I sense that they were so terrified to do the wrong thing with this sketch and be criticised, that they dropped the ball on making it funny.
That’s an observation that can be made about EVERY/ANYTHING. How is it possible that 11K people read this?
they haven't been funny for awhile
This show has been going down hill for at least 15 yrs, maybe longer. It only got worse when they stopped focusing on humor in lieu of hateful politics and poor writing. Don't care what your politics are and yes I realize it's always touched on politics but it used to be done with comedy at the center instead of hate and pandering. I watched this skit in hope of a laugh, but as expected, just wasn't funny at all.
Just in case you are wondering about the dislike count: so far the video has 125k dislikes and only 46k likes.
Lolllllll
@NotAfraid280 Chrome extension called 'Return FRclip Dislike'
@NotAfraid280 chrome extension
I don’t get it, I thought dislikes were hidden, how r u seeing the dislikes??
They could’ve done so much more with this like having the characters parody the funniest moments like the lawyer calling hearsay on his own question instead of focusing all on the fecal matter.
Agreed!
the most offensive part of this apart from not being funny is how they made amber's lawyer look and sound reasonable and professional
It's like they barely know what's going on. I don't watch the whole trials and I feel like even I know more then they.
I was thinking the same thing
Ok so we all agree, this was disappointing and literally anyone else whoa actually watched the trial could've made a better skit
This sketch had so much potential but the writers dropped the ball. SO much to work with
(John 3:16)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
What writers, what talent, it's all political agenda
If only Amber heard was a bit heavier and not dam beautiful. She would have the backing of American women.
The amount of disappointment I have watching this so called cold open was immense
When it’s the guy getting abused it’s “fun”, I guess.
Being able to embarrass a man who's been abused and also blacklisted from that very show, makes me fucking sick
Yeah, they REALLY shouldn't have touched any of this trial.
Same
I’m a person who looks at MOST situations with the though that there could be comedy in it. This case wasn’t too sensitive in my eyes so it was fair game but when the media is too scared to play both sides in something as distinct as a court case all it does is further solidify how men aren’t taken seriously when it comes to being victims of domestic violence.
They could have literally just reenacted the part about the muffins word for word and it would have been funnier.
Sameee
I was thinking the same shit
READ TIS .............,............................,...............
They really said “let’s put every person of color” on staff to do the job of the help.
With Johnny Depp being part Native American, I think he would've found this aspect of the skit wildly offensive.
@ChArG1nMaLAZ0R not funny
skin color has nothing to do with that stop assuming things that’s not a good mindset
This is not the SNL I once knew back in high school. Celebrity Jeopardy is my favorite part of SNL I knew.
"It smell like boo boo in here" was prob the funniest part of this sketch
I was cautious about watching this and I see for good reason. Seriously, if you guys are going to ignore the GLARING and OBVIOUS things going on with thr trial, then don’t do it at all. It’s clear you are ignoring what it’s actually about in order to not “offend” people when all you did was actually offend people and the clown the actual victim. Way to be supportive of domestic abuse victims SNL!
I don't get the impression that anyone who wrote this was actually really watching the trial
@Joe Schmo It’s abuse. it’s not a celebrity trial. and if THIS is their job.. they have time.
Cry about it
I thought "snl has a funny sketch I can watch finally". How very wrong I was
I usually love you SNL and knowing that you are satire, most of the time anything goes. However, it's just not as funny when mocking the victim just because he's a man. Doubt we would see this if the victim was a woman. Yes, the trial is crazy, but I'm glad it's getting a lot of attention because the truth needs to be known. Johnny needs justice so this trial is not silly, but necessary. Not saying you can have a sketch about this but maybe keep the one sided bias out.
I was so excited for a sketch like this… I was wrong for that
The judge in this sketch is low key telling the truth about this whole distraction
How did they manage to not take advantage of the pure comedy gold presented by the defense
@Matthew Mosier Unbased opinion
If only Amber heard was a bit heavier and not dam beautiful. She would have the backing of American women.
@Julie B thank you. All the misogynists making this about the fact that she’s a woman, when the truth is that they just can’t risk making fun of a potential abuse victim. Despite how things look, no one absolutely knows the truth for certain.
The comedy skills of this show's writers equals Amber "acting " abilities
I actually don’t find this trial funny and won’t be laughing until Amber is held accountable. It’s scary she hasn’t been stopped yet.
imagine waiting and thinking for a whole week and this is the best comedy you come up with
Wish I could see that likely huge dislike number on this vid
The actual trial is funnier than this sketch.
Agreed. Regardless of what's inappropriate or inflammatory, the trial is hilarious, that's why we're all watching it. The trial is like FAWLTY TOWERS or something. And this sketch is just, "Umm, uhhh,...poop, heh-heh." It's a little funny, but the trial, every day is like, "THEY WHAT??! HAHAHAHA! HE OBJECTED TO HIS OWN QUESTION?! SHE POSED WITH THE TISSUE?! HIS REAL NAME IS ROTTENBORN?! SHE CALLED HUGHES 'CURRY' THREE TIMES?!"
Watching paint dry is funnier than this
Lol ok that’s so funny and true!!
@Missfshnt that’s news to me that I’m Johnny depp
If this isn't proof that JD has already won, IDK what is ... LOVE IT 🤣🤣
snl looked at this thing and came away with "white people be trippin", its like 2022 version of joking about airplane food
Not even one "hearsay"... how can you fail so badly.
The majority of this was “OK”, but I gotta admit Kenan Thompsons bit was pretty damn funny
it’s bad when the actual thing has more jokes/is funnier than the snl sketch
Your profile pic is funnier than this sketch.
The word “more” implies the snl sketch was funny at all
This
frclip.com/video/9e4KR9qbbFk/vidéo.html Finally it's here.
The trial itself is more funny then 99 percent of what SNL could make
“Oh hell naw, das a boo-boo!” SO funny SNL 😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣🤣 “she had booboo in her own bed!” 😭😭😭😭😭😭😆😆😆😆😆😆
This whole sketch and the fact that they didn't portray Amber says a lot about current state of SNL
SNL JUST VICTIMIZED THE VICTIM!!!! WTH? It's painful seeing the ABUSE Johnny endured! 😡
So nice to see SNL do skits even though all the writters are away on holiday.
No these ARE the writers thats what makes it worse
Writters is not a worrd.
I came to this video to laugh and luckily your comment was here to actually make that happen
@Glenn Williams ❤️🥱😂
"Let's make fun of domestic abuse"
"Yeah that's a good idea!"
It warms my heart seeing everyone shit all over this skit
Imagine if the rolls were reversed? SNL would have had a field day with it.
it would have been funnier if they incorporate "hearsay" more to their script 😁
Wow lol... Having so much material from the actual trial THIS is what they came up with? 🤣
Guess they really want to do a shit sketch.
@Native Log Just came by to say I read the whole thing and it is a 10/10 read. Keep it up.
@Native Log just came to say I didn't read this. have a nice day
@Oracle of the Light objection Heresay, Mega pints, jars.. like bruh.
Remember what Bill Nurr said: If Johnny wins the case (wich I really hope he does) we expect the media like newspapers, magazines and websides ( and also this "Comedy show") offer him an apology for all that victim shaming!
I haven't laughed this hard since I was raped in the anus by a 300 year old great white shark. I love the gender swaps of the lawyers too, great touch.
"A fun trail" SNL really dropped the ball on this one
They could've changed the sentence, "where are you going with this", to, "Why do we not have the courage to go anywhere with this?" It would've at least been self-satire instead of no-satire.
There are literally hundreds of TikToks about this trial that are funnier than this cold open.
I have no clue how this show is still running. The majority of the country doesn't find them funny or creative anymore.
Those who are truly alive are kindly and unsuspecting in their human relationships and consequently endangered under present conditions. They assume that others think and act generously, kindly and helpfully, in accordance with the laws of life. This natural attitude, fundamental to healthy children as well as primitive man, inevitably represents a great danger in the struggle for a rational way of life as long as the emotional plague subsists, because the plague-ridden impute their own manner of thinking and acting to their fellow men. A kindly man believes that all men are kindly, while one infected with the plague believes that all men lie and cheat and are hungry for power. In such a situation, the living are at an obvious disadvantage. When they give to the plague-ridden they are sucked dry, then ridiculed or betrayed. ~ *Wilhelm Reich* , _Listen, Little Man!_
The real hopeless victims of mental illness are to be found among those who appear to be most normal. Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does. They are normal not in what may be called the absolute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. ~ *Aldous Huxley*
@Borrb _ #readbetterbooks 🤗
@Plen122 LOL, good one.
@London Untergunther aye bruh the skit just wasn’t funny
The 90's Simpsons and 90's SNL were some of the funniest, most brilliant satire ever written. It's really sad how the shells of these shows are still on the air. It would be like if the Beatles were still around in the 70's, 80's, 90's and started writing politically correct 4 chord Taylor Swift type songs. It would just ruin their reputation forever and overshadow the brilliance they used to have.
You really dropped the ball guys. Fire the writers, redo this whole thing or just admit you're too scared to go after the actual monster
I was worried the comment section would be filled with “how funny was that” comments per usual on bad sketches, thankfully everyone realized how badly they dropped the ball on this one.
Remember yall... this is an ongoing trial. It would be irresponsible of them to completely choose sides yet. Even though most of us have... there is only so much they can say until the trial is over. Imagine if, heaven forbid, Amber wins... then lots of people would flip and bandwagon super fast and bring up anyone who dragged her.
How could they not refer to it as a “grumpy “ like Depp did????
@a c
I think he means metaphorical slap
Because Depp is actually funny
Because they didn’t watch the trial.
They used like 0.01% of the GREAT comedy material from this trial.
If Amber Heard was undoubtedly the victim in this case and if she had the full support of the public, like JD currently has, I wonder how different this skit would be. I mean, I think it's blatantly obvious who's side the SNL writers are on, but they didn't want to turn even more viewers to away (SNL has slowly been turning their audience away with their constant woke material) but somehow they managed to do it again. Amber Heard would have been completely and vicously roasted if the genders were swapped.
When the comments section contributes funnier references, more comedic gold nuggets, and the real truth about Johnny's case than what the professional writers delivered in this skit, you know SNL has lost touch with reality. Life doesn't imitate their social & political views.
I was so excited to see what SNL was going to do with all the material from this trial and OMG I would have preferred that they didn't do anything, nothing, none, nada, niente, rien... 😒
The fact that the “Real” trial is funnier then this skit is hilarious.
It makes that trial look even more like a joke... Which was part of the joke lol that it is all hilarious and nothing can't beat that trial. SNL will never beat the big real joke of that trial.
also the Johnny Depp character didn't look anything like him. goober
SNL hasn't been funny in years!
Well said
Yes!!! 🤣
I bet this could have been hilarious if done by actually funny people…with…talent.
Very good sketch, HILARIOUS 😂😂
This sketch was disappointing for a lot of reasons, but coming off the heels of last week's episode, it sucks even more. SNL, YOU HAVE TALENTED WRITERS! DON'T SILENCE THEM! I bet there were a dozen brilliant sketches at the read-through, but they were afraid to criticize a woman claiming abuse, so they went with this.
Y’all did this but didn’t do Ambers “bee sting” face?! Come on!! That horrible actress gave y’all a goldmine to work with!! 😂
This could have been funny with a decent Johnny Depp impersonator. And good writers. And someone involved who is actually watching the trial. And so forth. There is so much great material in that trial, and they straight up missed it all.
don't forget someone who's written a good joke before.
Honestly
lol there's no way they watched it
This should just be the beginning. He's a good Depp. We need an Amber Turd.
The funniest thing about this is that the actual trial vids are comedy gold compared to this awful sketch
If you were wondering why FRclip removed the dislike button, here you go.
It would have been hilarious if Kate McKinnon said "I'm Joy Reid" instead.
When she said “how much more of this video do we have to watch?” I was thinking the same thing with this sketch…this was brutal to watch
I know! Wasn’t funny at all.
Okay yeah I was expecting so much better. They could have done so much!
For the first time ever I can say SNL has failed this one
Muffins
Big jars of coke
Mega pints of liquor
Amber heard lol
You kissed a lot of key pats
I understand this trial is all over the media and it’s something everyone is talking about, however it should not be allowed to be made fun of, regardless of amusing things that happen in the trail, one of the main things talked about is the domestic abuse and that should not be taken lightly. Dare I say but if amber told the truth and clearly was domestically abused NO ONE would be making fun so why is it ok to do this in general ?
Why are they making Heard’s lawyer so competent?
I don’t think the writers for this skit have been watching clips from this trial because there is so much ridiculousness that they just missed. Amber’s mannerisms when she testifies, her incompetent defense, the exhausted judge. The poop in the bed is actually one of the LEAST hilarious parts!
@Luke Smith i dont know, but yeah
@Pmorphie lmao never will I forget that. Isn’t there a scene in pirates with a severed finger or toe? One of the two? Life imitating art
@Luke Smith dont forget about the severed finger
@Sheila Mase oh snap lol
@Pmorphie Johnny will have both of these and a jar of cocaine after the trial
The fact that they said “this trial is for fun” encapsulates the moronic American obsession with celebrity. People watch and comment on the trial like it’s a tv show and not the actual lives of two people in a defamation lawsuit. Celebrity worship is scary.
they forgot the “hearsay” after every sentence lmao
For once I wish they brought back the Dislike count just so we could see the number of dislikes this video has gotten in the last 24 hrs
Shame on all involved in this and how dare the writer think it was OK especially with how JD was affected by all this.
They were so afraid of mocking the “victim” that they did indeed mock the real victim. Way to go. Kate would’ve made a great AH.
@LucilleB Really? So it was Heard who had a severed finger? 🤔
@metall No he isn’t
@Brian Sounalath Dude, you must be tripping balls if you think anyone EXCEPT Amber Heard is toxic. I hope you’re being funny and not serious
With alll the material and viral moments in this trial I'm surprised they didn't do more to this sketch
Finally somebody I can do an impression better than! Johnny Depp's easy you just use young Johnny Depp and mix it with old Hunter Thompson
Jesus there are a lot of people who do not get the point of this sketch 🤦♀️
It was perfect!
Just when you thought SNL had already hit rock bottom:
I laughed a lot more watching the actual trial.
@soyhard deren and I laughed harder at your comment thinking you’re even irreverent lol
Me too
when was the last time snl was better known for being funny than for being political?
In the previous century.
Probably back in the 80s
Just one thought. Had Amber been that deeply abused, why did she let him away for 7 million only. The shown that she's making now, the DV allegations, she could've made then, sent him to jail and left with at least 70 million plus a condo.
Epic ;) this was hilarious . It sums up perfectly that trial.
Oh no. I just started this and I’m already upset and completely disappointed by this sketch. You guys really should’ve been more careful when writing this sketch. I have tears in my eyes because of how much this hurts my heart. You guys have to do better than this. And not just with sketches about this trial. With every future sketch.
Man...they completely missed the mark on the lawyers from Amber's side. One of them literally objected to their own question.
@名前 boy do I have a bridge to sell you.
@Paula Figueroa they rarely make fun of the left.
SNL hasn't been biased for years now.
@La Chico Blanco the more you lie to yourself the more you believe it.
@Dzen acs no one in the world, let alone the media supports her
They could have just played a 2 minute clip of Amber or her lawyer and it we would have got a good belly laugh from it.
It's crazy that's they missed the actual things that could have been used this is ridiculous. It is just amazing that you can find us average folks actually are coming up with funny entertaining material.
I’m going to admit this made me lol😂
Eh I'm glad this skit was made. IT only further proves that Johnny's reputation was harmed because of her accusations. While I've noticed that the media or news are on ambers side even though the trial has clearly showed what a piece of chit Amber is. I've actually seen news outlets still defend her and make him out to be a monster even though it's obvious she's a complete monster. Goes to show the media takes sides regardless of the facts.
This skit will go down in SNL history as one of their biggest missed opportunities.
They are not funny. 😢
Just like the Will Smith slap sketch. It seemed like they rushed it and it was a major fail.
Havnt even seen this yet but I’m already laughing just at the attempt
Really shows how far downhill SNL has gone. The actual trial has more entertainment value and humour.
Norm MacDonald would have nailed this.
For the first time in the history of snl, the original event was wayyy more funnier than the sketch.. They didn't top the trial fr
This was the best they could do? The actual trial is funnier.
Bro if they were focused on Kyle’s Johnny Depp it would’ve been so much funnier
Once the trial is over I hope they re-do this, but make it funny and accurate instead.
Come on man, I'm one joke in and already I could do better.
"And how did [Amber pooping in the bed] make you feel?"
"Honestly, it made me feel like shit."
Like don't get me wrong, I know that's not a *good* joke, but it's better than this.
hysterical, loved it!
